WILLIAM’S 2ND WIFE (md c1719) SARAH’S IDENTITY
The surname of William Aldridge / Arledge’s second wife Sarah---who bore him two children before he died in about 1724 in Northumberland Co VA---has long been unknown to researchers. She herself died by April 1727 when her administrator was Richard FULKS.
After years of searching I finally decided that FULKS was the only useful lead, and tracing his history back find that he and James FULKS were evidently brothers who bought a certain tract of land in 1705, but in about 1726 the same land was sold by only Richard, and, furthermore, that James FULKS had by 1714,and probably somewhat earlier, married Sarah TULLOS.
Thus, to make a long story short, what appears to have happened is that James FULKS died sometime between 1714 and about 1720, and the widow Sarah FULKS married the widower William ALDRIDGE / ARLEDGE and then William died in 1724 and Sarah died in or by April 1727, and her former brother-in-law Richard FULKS administered her estate.
