Aleman is a very old name. It came from the Germanic people (before there was a Germany) who were called Alemanni and were part of the Suebi Celtic Clan that settled in what is now Galicia, Spain. Galicia means "of the Gaelic people."Although some think this name first appeared in Canary Islands, it may have first appeared in Galicia. The Celtics were of Scotland. There is a very strong connection between Scotland and Galicia which would explain why the "Alemans" eventually appeared Canary Islands, Cuba, Mexico etc.
