Here are my notes on George Washington Alewine (1838-1909)and his 2 wives:
George W. Alewine, son of Abraham Alewine, served in Civil War.Company I, 19th Regiment. Commander was Capt. Addison Clinkscales. Francis M. Alewine his brother says he was also in same company.
1880 U.S. Census, Due West, Abbeville, SC, p. 229A.
Geo. is 42, Margaret is 61(his first wife). No children living with them, however, Margaret, Hester A. and Jefferson Loner (Jones?) are in the household.Margaret, 39, is probably widowed in-law with the 2 children. Elizabeth Duncan, his future wife, age 34, a widow, lives next door with her three young daughters, Dora,14, Cora,11, and Sophronia,4.

Marriage Announcement Abstract, from The Anderson Intelligencer, James E. Harper, February 7, 1889: "Alewine, G. W. married Tuesday 24 Jan. 1889 Duncan, M. E., Mrs. in Mt. Bethel School House by R.B.A. Robinson, Esq."
1900 U.S. Census, Abbeville, Due West, ED 12.They had 3 children, with one living. George W. & Margaret say they have been married 35 years.

Anderson County Cemeteries, Vol. 2, R. Wayne Bratcher, p.111: Elizabeth Alewine, 31 Oct 1842 - 7 May 1932, East View Cemetery, Honea Path, SC.
Obituary, Anderson Independent, May 10, 1932:
"Honea Path, May 9 - Mrs. Elizabeth M. Alewine, 90 years old, died at the home of her granddaughter, Mrs. Tildon Smith, on Harper street, Saturday night at 10 o'clock, following a few days illness with pneumonia.
Mrs. Alewine had been a resident of this section for many years. She leaves several grandchildren to mourn her passing.
Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at 3 o'clock at Chiquola church with th Rev. E. W. Lollis conducting the services. Internment was made in East View cemetery. Cox & Company, funeral directors in charge."
