Does anyone have any documentation that shows Joseph's middle name, Addison? The only sources I have show just the middle initial "A."
Joseph had a 1st cousin, James Addison Alewine, 1843-1911, (my gr-gr-grandfather). Joseph had a nephew, also named James Addison Alewine, 1874-1922, son of Francis Marion Alewine. My gr-gr-grandfather, mentioned above also had a nephew James Addison Alewine, 1869-1939.
This family name continues down our line to this day, with my brother David Addison Alewine.
So two Alewine lines had a fair share of Addisons.
Does anyone know the origin of this family name? Was it a maiden name of an early Alewine's mother, or just a common name in the 1800s?
