Joseph Alewine and Rebecca Lightsey's daughter Margaret appears to have had 4 children - James Preston Alewine, George Oscar Alewine, Ernest Franklin Alewine and Lewis Joseph Alewine. Two of these children, James P and George O, are usually attributed to Joseph and Rebecca.
According to Lewis Joseph Alewine's death certificate in SC Jan 16, 1952, his father was unknown and his mother's maiden name was Margaret Alewine.
According to George Oscar Alewine's obit Dec 29, 1944 (pasted below), he had two half-brothers, Lewis Alewine and Preston Alewine.
Lewis Joseph Alewine and Ernest Franklin Alewine are listed as Margaret's sons in censuses.
James Preston Alewine and George Oscar Alewine are the 2 sons that seem to mistakenly be listed in most online trees as sons of Joseph and Rebecca.
Or am I looking at this incorrectly, somehow?Gwen
