Re: Jeremiah Alexander - RW
I read your article in the Forum with great interest. My Grand-Father, John Alexander, was born in Walker Co Alabama in 1850. His Father was Jeremiah Alexander. Jeremiah was a southern Unionist who did not believe in the Confederate cause and as a reult he made his way to an area of Mississipi and joined the Union Army and was placed in the 3rd Michigan Cavalry. He died of pneumonia in March of 1864. He is buried at Memphis National cemetary. I have hit a brick wall in trying to find who his father was. We have wondered if the RW Jeremiah Alexander may be his grandfather. We have wondered if there were children thatescaped breing listed. One account I reaD SHOWS HE HAD TWO BOYSand another report show he married in 1844 and fathered two daughters . None of the descendants of his sons are my Alexanders. There seems to be a big mystery hovers over this entire thing and I hope for a break-through in my lfetime because I am 80 yrs. old and don`t have much time. Any help you can give will be greatly appreciated, Sincerely, George Alexander Jr. --1313 East Reppto, Brownfield , Texas, Zip 79316. Emai addresa is Gajr@Prodigy. net.
