John Wilkes ALEXANDER was born in Pennsylvania 6 Mar 1776. He was raised in Iredell County, North Carolina where most of his siblings were born.
By the time of the War of 1812 he was living in the region of Ruthersford County, Tennessee. He might also have been in Wilson County, or Davidson County. He was in Cannon's 2nd Regiment Mounted Gunmen - Western Tennessee Volunteers in that War.
He was enumerated in the 1810 census in Rutherford County with 3 males under 10 and himself (26-45 yo) and 2 females under 10 and his wife also 26-45 yo.
In 1820 two of his brothers, Horatio Gates Alexander and Owsin/Owsyn Alexander, were enumerated in that same county. I have not found John enumerated there for that decade.
However, in 1830 he was again enumerated there along with the two brothers.
After that I loose John Wilkes Alexander. I know that one brother went to Bibb County, Georgia. Another brother took a circuitous route to San Augustine County, Texas. Part of that route may have included Franklin County, Alabama and Itawamba County, Mississippi.
If anyone thinks they can make a connection to this John Alexander in any of those places, please do get in touch with me. Thank you.
