We are descended from 3 Jonathan Alexander's in a row.I will call them Jonathan ONE; the middle Jonathan I'll call Jonathan Sr; and the youngest Jonathan Orlando Alexander I will call Jr - my grandpa.(We had always heard that the middle Jonathan was also Jonathan Orlando Alexander - hense my choice of "Sr.")
Ron, I have clarified the following with Mac already but will copy here and make notation from Mac's posting: "On Sep 1, 1852, one Jonathan Alexander and wife Anne Wood, apparently, left Randolph or Guilford Co., NC, for IA. I do not know if this is our Jonathan."
The Jonathan who moved to IA was single at the time and is our middle Jonathan SR born in Antelope Randolph Co NC on Sept 12, 1825. We have his journal and obituary and his wife Malinda Trogdon's family tree info. He left from Guilford Co NC Sept 1 1852 and that is where he was on the 1850 census p 269 with James Alexander who we are guessing is an uncle.
His father our Jonathan ONE was obviously living in Randolph Co NC when Jonathan SR was born. His cause of death from family history was drowning and he was found by sons Gideon and Jonathan. This Jonathan One is the one I'm thinking MAY be the husband of Anne Wood.We think Jonathan One died before 1850 since Jonathan SR age 26 in 1850 was at the home of James age 47 in 1850.
Our Jonathan One had the following children: Gideon, Jonathan, Sarah, and Calvin.Calvin died of Typhoid fever.
