I just wanted to post this here in case anyone else was researching this line and had this Error in their information as I did. My 3rd grt. grandfather was James Alexander was supposedly born Nov. 9, 1818 or 1819 in Brunswick, Maine, son of ??? He married on Nov. 8, 1836 in Brunswick to Sophronia RIDEOUT who was born in Topsham, ME (just over the bridge from Brunswick), on Sept. 3, 1817.I have her death date as 1853 but am now Very suspicious of this as I had James death date as Feb. 21, 1866 which I now Know to be Wrong.James was alive and well in the 1880 Brunswick, Cumberland Co., Maine Census at age 61 yrs.Living with him was my grt. grt. grandfather Ormando HUBBARD (they have his name spelled wrong, it was Oramandel)age 35 yrs. old listed as son-in-law, Abbie Hubbard age 28 listed as daughter (that is right), and the list of his grandchildren (Orm. & Abbie's children), that had been born. They had several more after this Census. Also living with James was his nephew Frederick RIDEOUT age 23. Sophronia supposedly died May 4, 1853 but I don't know as I believe this now as this info came out of a book called something like the Rideout's of America.Anyway, I have been told and have seen on some documents that there were many James Alexander's living in Brunswick all around the same time and that they have been so confused and mixed up into the wrong families that we may never get this all straightened out.If Anyone has any input or proper information on this I would sure appreciate hearing from you as this Alexander line of mine has been a tough one to crack. Thanks and I hope this info may help someone in doing their research.
