Donna,
I just stumbled on your request.
We may be related.
My Grandfather Gisoffatte Alfonsi was born in Ascoli Feb 188?. He brought his family over in 1929 (Wife Felicia, Sons- Martin[my father], Giacomo, Antonio and Daughter Elenora).
They settled in Clairton PA for a year or so and then move to West Mifflin PA where the family is centered now.
My Grandfather had three brothers (Guilio, Dominic and Guissepe) and I think one sister (name?). My Grandfather and Dominic came here before the War and all the others came after the War. They are all deceased.
Growing up I had heard that the family came from a village near Ascoli called "Sette Quercia" (spelling dubious), which is now abandoned as it had no road or electricity leading to it.
Those of us originally from the West Mifflin area are having a re-union July 14. There should be 30-40 in attendance.
Seehttp://www.egallo.com/reunion/http://www.egallo.com/reunion/If you live nearby you should plan to come and maybe some of my Uncles or Aunts may have information as to how our families may be related.
I understand that there is another branch that settled in Trenton NJ and some that are somewhere in Argentina.
Where are you from? and how many Alfonsi's are in your area?
Martin J Alfonsi
