Benny,
Let's continue this discussion via regular e-mail where it is easier to work.
I'm with the ALFORD AMERICAN FAMILY ASSOCIATION, INC. and we do have a little information on your family. We hope you will share with us any and all other information you might have on Alfords.
The 1910 census of Marion Co. SC shows John E. 35 (1875) and Ellen 30 (1880) with Hatie 6, Montan (f) 5, Edwin 2 and Lillian 5 months.
The 1920 census of Marion Co. suggests something must have happened to John.Ellen 41, Katie G. 16 and Edwin 12 are all boarding with a Harvard Coleman.Have you ever heard of him?Lillian is with an Uncle McKay Atkinson.A Clara Bell about 4 yrs and 6 mos is also with McKay Atkinson. In 1910 there was an Emma Alford 54 listed as the mother of David J. Atkinson.
Looks like there has to be a connection between your family and the Atkinson's and maybe with the Colemans.
Do you know when or where your grandfather died?I tried to find the right John Alford in 1900 but there are too many until we can get a better handle on him.
