Hi Rebecca,

I'm trying to find distant relatives in Chile, and as Bill mentioned "a strong Chilean connection" in regard to the Allardices, this may be of interest to you.
I can tell you that a Kenneth Allardice (b. 1888, d. 1960) married Alice McLaughlin there. She was (born c.1881, d. 1971) the daughter of Thomas McLaughlin, (b. 1836, Arequipa, Peru) & Annie Maugan.
The McLaughlins moved to Valparaiso, Chile around 1850, perhaps earlier, but definitely before 1852.
Kenneth & Alice had two sons, David W. who died at the battle of Alamein (Lieutenant, Kings o Liverpool Reg), and Philip M. who was a "FlyingOfficer" in the RAF who died at/near Malta (both in WW2, obviously).
The parents are buried in the Dissidents Cemetary in Valparaiso (dissidents because non-catholics could not be buried alongside the faithful). The boys' names are on a memorial plaque in St Paul's (C of E) Church on Templeman St, Valparaiso.
I might be able to access photos of the graves & plaque if you are interested.
Regards,
David Thomas
