I have recently begun researching my father's family (actually did a bit of digging some years back, but not intensive). I found another cousin a couple years ago who had a lot of information on the Allen/Conn lineage and we combined our lists...which is extensive from Granville Allen to the present. She recently passed away quite suddenly; I have only hard copy...but am trying to find electronic copy to share.
Granville Allen, father of John Thurman Allen, is my great grandfather. Granville's father was Churchwell Allen; "Church's" father was James...and I get hung up there. I was in Ireland 3 years ago...want to go back and would like to see if England/Scotland/Ireland is where the Allens came from...and possibly find relatives.
John T. Allen (1883-1931), John Thurman's son, married Gertrude Roop (1885-1908); second wife, Willie Mae Roop (1890-1910)...Gertrude's sister); third wife, Mary A. Daughtery (1886-1967), supposedly a "mountain woman." One of her daughters is Lillie Mae Allen Robinson (1917-) whom I believe is still alive...visited her in 1979 and again in 2 years ago...Paint Lick, KY. (She did, and maybe still does, writes a "social" column for that area newspaper.
More is available...I'm hoping to get the disk so it is easier to share.
This is my work e-mail...will enter home e-mail later.
