A tombstone for a child's grave was found beside a road in Dade County Georgia by a county patrolman recently.
The name on the tombstone is "Oliver, son of M. L. & Willie ALLEN," May 19, 1904 - Aug 12, 1905.
I have recorded the cemeteries in Dade County but do not find a listing in any of them for this child.
On the 1900 census we only had one Allen family... there is not a male within this household with the initials of M. L. I have also checked surrounding counties of Walker County GA., Hamilton and Marion Counties TN and Jackson County AL and the 1910 census as well without any luck.
The stone is approximately 18 to 20 inches high, about 12 inches wide and 2-3 inches thick. It has been firmly attached to a heavy square base.
If anyone knows of the family of M. L. Allen (and wife, Willie), please contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org. We would like to get this tombstone back to where it belongs.
