Carol,
Thanks for your thoughts. They did help me. After my last email to you I sat down and thought. My father before he died took me to Forrest City, Arkansas and Introduced me to Minnie Rector. He told me that she was my last living relative on his side. Then he took me to a graveyard and told me my kin was burried there.Ok so to make a long story short through my reasearch I run into Minnies Grandaughter on here. But she really knew nothing she said she tried some time back to do this. Her great grandma Florence E. Allen Carter live with her and her mother until her death Oct. 23rd 1976. But Paula (my distant cousin) said Florence would never talk about her child hood, but she did give me some info on where Florence went to. seems she was raise by other people, name Layton, in Germantown, Shelby County, Tennesse.(A Tennesse county that boarders Crittenden county Arkansas.) When she was 17 she went to live with her brother Doss Allen In Earle, Crittenden County, Arkansas. Well guess what. I found Doss and Dovie on the 1910 Census from that town and that county. It said that Dovie had had 4 children and 1 was still living. A Female by the name of Effie Allen. And that would back up the story that my dad told of being the third set of twins born to the Allen family. Also it had the proper ages for them to be the couple that married in 1902. What I find interesting is that Florence Allen Carter had 7 children and only 2 lived. Minnie and her sister. All the others died only days after birth and one was still born. Paula said that my grandfather Doss was named after his father, but she remembers that Florence told her that her parents were named Dorsey and Janie. So now im chasing leads again. Just to let you know I have never found my Grandparent on a 1920 census. But I have found them onrecords Census, Marriage, and ww1 reg, ( thanks a great part to you) for years, 1900,1902,1910,1914,1918,1930.Some had a few discrepencies but the others negated them. Minnies family bible had a notation in it that Effie Allen Died September of 1931, she only lived a year after the 1930 census. Heck no wonder Ive had a major heartattack@50. Seems by my dads family Im lucky to have made it this far. lol. I just wanted you to know that I do appreciate all your help. And am hoping to ask if you mind , if I get stuck again, for Help finding things or just your thoughts on something.
Vickie
