Hey Nadine, Very excited about this line of kinfolk. Until this year I knew NOTHING about this line of Allen's. My connection is through Holland and Edith's daughter, Elizabeth. Elizabeth was born in May 1852, in S.C. She married Benjamin Howard Parks, and settled in Jackson County, Ga. She is buried there at Cave Springs Baptist Church. My paternal grandmother had always wanted to know about her Allen family, and even though Elizabeth lived with her the last few years of her life...she knew nothing at all about her family. She said in all the years she lived with them, she never had a family member visit, nor did she ever speak of any family, at all. My Grandmother died a couple of years ago without knowing anything about her Grandmother. The ONLY thing we had heard, is that "Lizzie" was at least 1/2 Cherokee. We have an old portrait of her and Ben, that was one of two portraits that was saved when their house burned. We don't know if the Cherokee was truth or rumor...but, older community members have said everyone knew that she was Cherokee. I am SO glad to finally have a connection for this family. I hope we can share what we have to make ends meet. God Bless..
