Hi Ruby, no exact info, but some side info that may perk your interest.
L. Delishman Allen b. 1867 or 1868 in Cherokee, NC married in Arapahoe County, Colorado (Denver City). I never found out who he married...the info as on Ancestry.com. His initial "L" could be Lucius or it could be Lemuel for his father. The Ancestry site said:mother: Clarinda Rogers - so I know it is the same one.
And Nancy Clarinda "Clara" Allen b. 18 Mar 1881 Colorado and died 15 Mar 1925.She married Leroy Linkogle (b. 1886 in IL) They were married 17 June 1906 in Colorado City, Co. Nancy was the daughter of John Quincy Allen and Lucy A. Nelson.
What if Dock or Doctor Allen went west to be with this part of the family.
Lucy A. (Addie) Nelson who married John Quincy Allen died Glendale, CA or Los Angeles, cA - depends on which one you want to believe. John Quincy Allen died 9 Jul 1907 in Denver, CO.So that makes me wonder if some of the other part of the family didn't go out there too -
One of the families that the Allens married into had a son Lucius Delishman - so that is where the Delishman comes from - I found that on worldconnect.comby just using the first name Delishman and nothing else.
However, here is another idea: Clarinda Rogers was married in 1847 in Union County, GA. What if Dock or Doctor went there - not much doing for income in Cherokee County,NC where the family lived - unless he wanted to farm.
The first two kids of David Warren Allen were born in Murray County, GA. That could be another place to find relatives.
There are lots of small Church cemeteries in Cherokee County in the part where the Allens lived.
Some are: Unaka Baptist, Violet Bapt Church Cemetery, Old Vest Suit Cemetery Friendship Bapt. Ch. Cemetery Suit-Liberty Cemetery Persimmon and Old Persimmon Creek Baptist Ch. cemetery Allen family Cemetery (which you know about), but I wonder if there are unmarked graves there? Moss Cemetery at Marble near Andrews (some Allens married into Moss) River Hill Cemetery at Farner (not FARMER but FARNER) Shoal creek Letitia Lots of very small places in that part of Cherokee County - and I did a map search and it doesn't look like any roads lead off from the road between Murphy and Andrews - so they must have pretty much stayed on the other road out of Murphy -
Jeremiah Rogers b. 1784 or 1785 in VA married Elizab eth and they were married in 1825 - in the 1850 Census they lived in Union County, GA - so that is another place to look for relatives and descendants.
Some sites: Jeremiah Rogers b. 1784 VA died in Buncombe County, NC and not Cherokee Co, NC.I don't know why they would put that - since he really never lived in Buncombe County - Haywood is the best bet - closer to Cherokee County.
There is a Rogers Creek in Cherokee County,NC - I tried that on GNIS web site - I also saw a lot of the old cemeteries on that web site - I use it a lot.
Sometimes the name is spelled RODGERS and other times ROGERS. But it can be spelled: Roedger, Rouger, Radger, Ridger,Rackers, Rouger Rowgers,Roeger, and Roedger....any of those might be in wills, deeds, etc.
At Shoal Creek it was usually spelled Rogers At Hot House (sm. place) it was spelled Rodgers Beaver Dam - Rogers Murphy - Rogers in the 1880 US Census of Cherokee County, NC
Robert David Rogers from Philadelphia County, PA came down to Mecklenburg County, NC and then to Haywood County, NC. He married Frances Jackson Russell who was born IRELand. Some say Robert David Rogers was born Ireland also. They had a son JEREMIAH ROGERS b. @ 1767 or 1762 (different ones) and another son Robert T. Rogerswho died 1819 in Buncombe County, NC so there is a possibility that the Rogers were there.
Remember: Lemuel Allen was born 1771 and died 1831. He married Barbary Edwards in 1804 in RUTHERFORD COUNTY, NC. So some of the family may have gone back there -
I went by the library briefly today and checked on some VA books.
Jeremiah Rogers is listed as a VA TAX PAYERS in the book for the years 1782-87. He is listed in FAUQUIER COUNTY. That is a county up in the upper part of Virginia, not on the NC border. But that doesn't mean much - a lot of pioneers came down the old PA WAGON ROAD.
Another Jeremiah Rogers was listed in the book of Revolutionary Soldiers Pensions:
He was VA Line. Applied for pension 23 Aug 1832 at Marion County, TN age 67 (thus born @ 1765) He enlisted in Montgomery County the part that became Wythe County, VA
So there were several Jeremiah Rogers in records. If I have time, I will try to check out some more books on VA and see if I find anything. I tried going on the internet to see the 1790 Census of Virginia, but didn't have much success ...you have to buy books or pay the web sites.
Remember:Jeremiah Rogers in the 1850 census was living Union County, GA (b. 1784) so he might have had a land grant there as a Rev. War soldier. He would have been about 66 years old in the 1850 census.
Magalee Stiles b. 1896 and died 1977 married Virgil Allen b. 1890. She is buried SUIT, CHEROKEE COUNTY, NC - Friendship Bapt. Church Cem. so that is a place where Allen relatives are buried.
Clarinda Rogers in the 1880 US Census stated that both her parents were born NC.But maybe her grandfather was born VA.
Hope you find some info you need and not another "brick wall" Good hunting!
