Jim, Nice to hear from you! Frankly, you have offered some interesting information that I cannot tell you much about. My book written by Orrin P. Allen has some background information on Samuel. But Orrin Sites Francis Olcott Allen efforts to complete the chain to England positively and says..I quote, "Mr. Allen (Francis Olcott) is too conscientious to put forth any claims which could not bear the full blaze of critical inspection...the parentage and birthplace of Samuel Allen must remain an unsolved problem."
I would love to send you what I have for your review, we need to hook up! I am new to this and I have limited time right now to really research more, but hopefully next spring I can get into it in depth.
You mention a James (This confuses me, No mention of James??) and I believe it was 11 or 12 children and 3 or 4 wives. THe book I have mentions Samuel's wife as Ann, she remarried upon Samuel's death in 1648 to a William Hurlburt. She died November 13, 1687, William Hurlburt died April 17, 1694, they resided at this time in Northhampton, Mass. Tha Allen book Lists only 7 children of Samuel and Ann: Their order of birth is uncertain but lists them in this order: Samuel b. 1634, Nehemiah, John, Rebecca unm d. May 8, 1697 Northhampton, Mass., Mary died young, Obadiah, Child died before 1648 in Windsor. The book also mention Samuel birthdate maybe in error as Ann outlived Samuel by 39 years. Yet you mention 3 or 4 wives that might explain the age problem....You got me wondering...??
I am a descendant of Samuel, John, Samuel, John, John, Isaac, Chauncey, Isaac A., Isaac A, Willson, David, William (me), David (my son). Most of this group stayed in the Connecticut River Valley from Deerfield, Mass to Hartford, Ct. I presently live in Enfield, Connecticut.
Did you know General Ethan Allen was a descendant of Samuel?
