Willoughby Allerton ca. 1662 to 1724 marriages

By Kathleen Whelihan November 15, 2002 at 04:22:37

Hi,

I'm looking into the two marriages of Willoughby ALLERTON son of Isaac and Elizabeth ( WILLOUGHBY ) ALLERTON Jr.. I find that most of the information on this family state that Willoughby's children were from his second marriage to Hannah ( KEENE, dau. of William ), widow of John BUSHROD.

John BUSHROD will is dated 26 Jan. 1719 ( 20 ) proved in Westmoreland Co. 30 Mar. 1720, mentions dau.s Apphia FAUNTLEROY, Elizabeth MERIWETHER, Hannah and Sarah BUSHROD, at 17 years, sons Richard, John at 19 years, and Thomas, wife Hannah, as exx.

Hannah ( KEENE ) BUSHROD ALLERTON married again after Willoughby's death, will dated 17 Jan. 1723 ( 24 ), proved Westmoreland Co., 08 Apr. 1724. He mentions wife Hannah and her daughters Hannah and Sarah BUSHROD, son Isaac and dau. Elizabeth ALLERTON, names wife and son as ex.'s. Hannah's will is under Hannah COOPER, dates 26 Dec. 1738, proved Westmoreland Co., 29 May 1739, mention William SANFORD, son of sister Elizabeth dec'd of Richmond Co., dau's Elizabeth MERIWETHER, Sarah BERRYMAN, son John BUSHROD, dau. Hannah NEALE, late husband Col. Willoughby ALLERTON, son Richard BUSHROD, extr., to be buried between his father and Mr. COOPER, son in law William FAUNTLEROYand his wife, Apphia, dec'd son Thomas BUSHROD. No sign of the ALLERTON children.

My problem with this is his son Isaac ALLERTON, who m. Anne CORBIN, is mentioned in the will of James TAVENER of Richmond Co.
TAVENER, James, 04 May 171105 Mar. 1711-12
Nephew Thomas BEALE Jr., nephews John BEALE, William
BEALE; niece Elizabeth BEALE, wife Rebecca; nephew
Isaac ALLERTON

Willoughby's full sister Frances, born ca. 1668, m. Capt. Samuel TAVENER, had Elizabeth, Rebecca, and Winifred, mentioned in thier grandfather's will, Westmoreland Co., Will Bk. 3, pg. 113, proved 30 Dec. 1702. Isaac ALLERTON Jr., mentions dau. Elizabeth, from 1st. marriage, in New England and her heirs, grandchildren TAVENER as foresaid, daughter Sarah LEE, b. ca. 1670-1 also full sister, and grandson Allerton NEWTON, her son, left most of his estate to son, Willioughby, and his male heirs.

So Willoughby's children must have come from Rosamund FITZHUGH, dau. of Col. William FITZHUGH ( 1650- 1701 ) and Sarah TUCKER, dau. of John TUCKER and ROSE ????, later GARRARD NEWTON , died ca. 1711. This may be were the thought that Rose was a ALLERTON, this is from a NEWTON genealogy. Isaac ALLERTON Jr. was a witness to her second Thomas GARRARD's will of 1673. Isaac, Thomas and Capt. John LEE, son Col. Richard LEE, all were neighbors and had a banqueting hall that adjoined all the properties.

Isaac ALLERTON son of Willoughby, m. Ann CORBIN, his will was dated 31 Mar. 1739, proved Westmoreland Co. on 27 Nov. 1739; names wife Anne all my estate, my land to 3 sons, Glwen ( Gawin ), Willoughby, and Isaac, sister Elizabeth QUILL's children Sarah and Margaret, coz. Charles BEALE and his bro's John, Tavener, Richard and Reuben, exrs. wife, Anne, John BUSHROD and Daniel HORNBY.

I hope this helps some and maybe I'm crazy but it does link the ALLERTON, TAVENER, LEE, EUSTACE and BEALE families together. It would also explain why Rose the mother of Sarah TUCKER, has been linked to the ALLERTON's of Virginia.
