Re: Isaac ALLERTON, Jr. & 2 wives Elizabeth

Information that I have put together indicates that Isaac Allerton's first wife may have been a daughter of his father's third wife Joanna Swinnerton. But as far as I know there is no proof of this. NEHGR 124:83-84 argues that she was a daughter of Joanna Swinnerton, third wife of Isaac's father

His second wife was Elizabeth (Willoughby)(Overzee) Colclough dau of Thomas Willoughby and his wife Alice (Unknown)

He had 3 children by his first wife, Elizabeth Allerton, Isaac Allerton III, and Sarah Allerton.

Elizabeth Allerton stayed in CT when he moved to VA. She married1. Benjamin Starr and 2. Simon Eyres.

Isaac Allerton III went to VA with his father, but returned to CT and married Ann Corbin according to some researchers. There is conflict between researchers as to whether he died childless prior to his father's death or whether he had children. Isaac Allerton II did not name him or any of his children in will so this is why there is conflict.It has to do with law of Primogeniture in Virginia.

Sarah Allerton stayed in VA and married Hancock Lee. Researchers say that she was an ancestor of President Zachary Taylor.

Mary Alleton, who married John Newton.Had son Allerton Newton mentioned in will.

Frances, who married Capt. Samuel Travers, Had daughters Elizabeth, Rebecca and Winifred. (Mentioned in will)
