Re: Alley Family Marion Co. Tn.

I am trying to find out if there is a family connection between my gggrandparents and the A. K. Alley family.It is my understanding that Capt. A. K. Alley, CSA, was the son or grandson of Erasmus Alley.My ancestors names were: Henry Wood (abt.1831-1863), who served under Capt.A. K. Alley in the 35th Regiment of the Tennessee Infantry and was killed at the Battle of Chickamauga on Sept. 19, 1863.His wife was Mary Catherine Earls Wood (1836-1926).According to family stories, after Henry was killed, the Wood home was burned by the Yankees and Mary with her four children lived with the A. K. Alley family for a while. This is the reason that I feel that there could be family ties.I know nothing about Henry's parentage; he may have been born in N.C.
