Re: Alley - Kidder marriages

To expand a little, Charles Caldwell Alley was married to Alice Melissa Grove.She was born 25 Jul 1882 in Greenfield Il, and died 11 Jan 1946.I remember my father leaving the family in California to attend the funeral of Charles.My father inherited a gun that Charles had made himself. It was much like a cap and ball, except it used buckshot instead of a ball.

I'm only aware of 2 children. 1 Clara Josephine Alley, (my grandmother) married William Franklin Robins.2.Her sister, Lora Irene Alley married Watts Whitney.

If you go back to the children of James Alley, you will find that he had a daughter, Frances (Alley) Naper who was killed by the indians along with 4 children in 1777.He had another daughter, Mary Alley, who at the age of 15 was kidnapped by the indians, but she managed to escape and get back to her family after a couple of months. This was also in 1777.He also had a son, Samuel Alley that enlisted at the age of 16 in 1777.

Kirstie Louise Alley is related to the family through his son Thomas Joseph Alley.
