Re: Alleys of IN,MO
Hi, LaVerne. My Peter's son William was born in VA - November 1806, Thomas IN - 1818.William was my gggrandfather and he died in 1871 I think in MO.He was married to Mary Jones and they had the following children - Hadley, Sarah, Elizabeth, William Houston, Abijah Asbury, James Monroe, John Henry, Caroline(a) and Martha.I think your best bet so far is still Thomas V.as being the father of your William A. & Thomas V. William A. being born in 1801.Thomas has a brother, William b. ca 1770 according to Alley Ancestors and it also states that this William said that he was first living in Mo in 1770.This William and brother, Thomas may have had father, John.In another place the books says that John Alley (Parentage unknown possible brother to Henry) was born in 1740 and married Margaret Rawson/Bossain b. 1750.Two children listed Thomas V. b. ca1770 in PA married to Catherine Baker whose father was Andrew Baker b. ca 1748 - one of the first five settlers in St. Francis Co., MO; and William A. b. 1778 in PA married first, Mary Unknown and second, Sarah Unknown
perhaps Sarah and William had a son, John b. 1799 in MO.
And then in MO, page MO-42 lists John C. Alley, b MO 1799 m. Mary Unknown b. 1817 MO. Children: Mary Ann? b. ca1823
Rawson b. 1832 MO
Clarinda b. 1837 MO
Thomas b. 1839 MO
Narcissa b. 1841 MO
Sarah I. b. 1842 MO
Artemisia b. 1843 MO
William b. 1845 MO
Nancy b. 1847 MO
Arvilli b. 1849 MO
Notes say that John's grandfather reportedly was John b. 1740 of Pa, who had two sons, Thomas & William, John's father. The grandfather died ca1825 in St. Francois Co. MO, and the balance of the family may have moved to Texas.John and family are only listed on the 1840 & 1850 MO census. One reason the above story of John's gf may be true, is that the John b. 1740 md. a Margaret Rawson.Note the name of the first child listed above.
That is all I can scout up for the moment. If you have additional questions, feel free to email me again.Note change of email firstname.lastname@example.org
