Help Solve Allgood Mystery 1900-1910 KY

My Great Grandfather, James Manly Allgood, married Jossie Allgood in Feb, 1893. They had two Children, Mary Alda Alggod, and James Eldridge Allgood
In the 1900 Census in Whitesville, Ky (Daviess Co.)
they were a happy family. James,38-b 1862, Jossie,34-b 1876, Mary-child, James Child
Low and Behold in the 1910 Census,in Calhoun, KY (Mclean Co)both children, Mary and James had been adopted by James D. Johnson and Wife Margaret

I have no idea what happened to the parents, James Manly Allgood, and his wife Jossie(Josephine Sadler). They seemed to have vanished off the earth.
I have searched death record, cemetery records, and cannot find adoption records to the Johnsons.
Of course, there is no one left alive in my immediate family that knows a thing.
