Silas was the son of Abel Allis and Hannah Porter as evidenced by a deed from 1802 in which the children (John Belding Allis of Ashfield & his wife Lucy, Silas & his wife Charlotte, Elijah & wife Dorothy, Henry, Grace) of Abel & Hannah Allis of Ashfield sold their future inheritable land (Lot N Nine) to Elisha Dewolf Junior (husband of Eunice).
