Re: Peter Alliss, the famous golf commentator

A bit late coming after the original post I know,but I am also related to Peter Alliss.

My grandmother had always told us that they were "some kind of 2nd cousins"As she always told the most wonderful and sometimes bizarre stories, it was always taken with a modicum of salt.Peter's parents did run the shop opposite the house where she lived as a youngster but we all were sceptical of her story.

Having now indulged myself for the last couple of years in genealogy I decided to see if the story held any truth especially after an unknown relative contacted me with the same story but couldn't find the link.

Having time on my hands, I've done the investigation and to my surprise .... sorry grandma, you were right all along he was your 2nd cousin, just as you said and I am his second cousin twice removed (of course)!

Goes to show that these wild family stories often hold at least some ounce of truth
