Re: Jane Ambler, b. 11-9-1833, Guernsey County, Ohio

I just found your posting and looked in my notes to see what I could find.From some notes that were prepared by a John Ambler of Beltsville, MD. in the 1970's (he is now deceased), I found that your Jane Ambler was the daughter of William Ambler and Sarah Shatto Ambler who were married in 1829 in Guernsey County, OH.
It tells that Jane married Nelson Ambrose Ambler on the date you have and that they had one son born in July, 1860.The son's name is not given.

This information was suppied to John by a Mrs. Jannie (Ward) Roberson of Patterson, California.She claims to be a descendent of William and Sarah Ambler.I do not know if she is available now but her address was listed as 204 N. 3rd St. in Patterson.

I am the descendent of some Amblers from Loudoun County, Virginia some of whom moved to Guernsey and Belmont Counties in Ohio.However, the ones I know were oldered than this William Ambler and were married when they moved there.

It is very possible that the William Ambler you will be tracing is related to a Decimus F. Ambler who migrated to America in the early 1700's and settled in Virginia.
Many of us tracing Ambler's in Northern Virginia believe he is our first generation in this country. We believe he had several children from the only one we know for sure was a Thomas Ambler who then had a son William Thomas Ambler who married a Sarah Colvin.A number of their descendents moved to either Belmont or Guernsey Counties in Ohio.

You may want to look at the 1820 and 1830 Census Reports for Amblers in these two Ohio Counties.
