Re: Nicolas Anciaux
Hi John, I would love to have a copy of your picture of Nicholas Anciaux, who I have been researching. I first ran across him in 2007 when I was researching my Chambers ancestors. Nicholas owned land in Burke Co Ga and in Washington Co Ga, both adjacent to my 4greatgrandfather, Jonas Chambers. Jonas moved to Burke Co Ga in 1788 from Cecil Co Md. I have found a letter in the Maryland Archives which indicates that Jonas was an officer during the Revolutionary War, in Maryland.Since Nicholas was also a Rev. War officer, I wondered if there might be some connection between the two men.
More recently, I have been researching John Hall of early Effingham Co Ga, and Nathaniel Hall of Savannah Ga. Once again, Iran across Nicholas Anciaux. He and his family are listed in the 1790 reconstructed census of Chatham Co Ga, although they also appear to have lived in the Screven/Bulloch area. His wife Lydia had a sister named Valeria who marrried William Gibbbons of Savannah. William was a brother of Ann Gibbons, who was married to Nathaniel Hall. Nathaniel Hall, John Hall, and William Gibbons were Tories during the Revolutionary War. However, Nathaniel Hall and William Gibbons had siblings who fought on the other side. Anyhow, I was wondering if you know anything about the family of the Richardson sisters - Lydia and Valeria, who apparently were born in Rhode Island. I would love to exchange further information with you about this family.
