Ancona is not an uncommon name in Italy and there are many branches in Sicily alone that came to New York. Most were not related to each other. My Ancona family was from Castellammare del Golfo. If yours are too you are lucky because there are extensive records for that town. I suggest two websites. One is sicilian surnames. Put in Ancona and they will show you the distribution of the name in Sicily. The other is italiangen.org. There are extensive databases for NYC and you may be able to find information on your family.Good luck.
