Swedish families from Vastra Gotaland, Sweden
Hi,
I live in Sweden and about a year ago moved to a region in Vastra Gotaland. We bought an old vicarage out in the country in the Village of Od, Ljung Township, Vastra Gotaland Province.
Due to my interest in old buildings, I have recently published a little book about the old cabins and cottages of the region. In this book there is information about some families who emigrated to the US. Namely, Andersson/Andersdotter, Holmstrom, Kalleberg/Kallberg (pronounced "Shellberg"). These are the names I havefound so far as I am reading through it slowly (my Swedish is not very good).
The Andersson family is:
Anders Peter Andersson, married to Sara Maja (pronounced Maya) Svensdotter. Children: Ida Vilhelmina Andersdotter, Klas Rickard Andersson, Frans Linus Andersson, Emma Josefina Andersdotter, Per Adolf Andersson, Karls Edvin Andersson and Johan August Andersson. Emma Karl and Johan died during a scarlet fever epidemic in May 1882. Ida was the first to emigrate in 1885. Anders, Sara and the remaining children emigrated in 1887. This family originally came from Sodra Bjorke to Od in 1868.
I have more information about the house they lived in if anyone is interested.
Karen
