Andersons of Hampshire County, VA

My David Anderson married Mary Kackley in Hampshire County, VA in 1820. He was born in CharlesTown, WVA in 1797. His father was John Anderson, but which one? I am unable to connect David to a family...no siblings, etc. Would he have been named after his grandfather (ie David Anderson) if he was the firstborn son? Any help would be much appreciated.
