Lomond Betty Lea / Lomond Betty Anderson ... missing relative
I’ve been searching for this woman for about 20 years without any success.
Her full name at birth was Lomond Betty Anderson, however, she was raised by her adult sister [my grandmother]and went by the name Betty Lea until the mid to late 1940's.Her birthdate is May 8, 1925 and she was born in Tewkesbury, Gloucestershire, England,to Charles William Anderson and his wife Pheobe.
On April 25, 1928, the family who raised her immigrated to Canada via the ship Antonia, which docked in Quebec City. Her immigration record records her as Lomond Betty Lea.Immigrating with her were her adult sister, Bessie A. Lea, Donald Amos Anderson Lea and Franklin Lea.
At some point during the 40's, Betty wanted to get married and needed her birth certificate in order to obtain a marriage license. For reasons known only to my grandmother, she handed over the birth certificate to Betty, and for the first time, Betty discovered that her real name was Lomond Betty Anderson.
Betty/Lomond married a sailor who was home on leave. However, shortly after the wedding, Betty/Lomond disappeared. No one in the family has heard from her since. Her husband also didn’t hear anything from her.No one living can recall this husband’s name, however, presumably he had to wait 7 years in order to get a divorce from her.
We have no idea where Lomond/Betty went to ... or what happened to her.I’m hoping that someone out there is aware that their mother/grandmother had the maiden name “Anderson” ... or has seen immigration papers under the name of “Lea” ...
If any of this story sounds familiar to you, please let me know. While I had wanted to solve this mystery for my father, he died last year.I would love to solve this puzzle, however.
