I am searching for family that may be related to my Great Great Grandmother and her husband Anders Peter Carlson.this is what I know so far.
According to the marriage records of Asby Parish in Ostergotland County, Anders Peter Carlson married Anna Regina Andersdotter on 19 Oct 1851.Then in the Asby Parish 1846-1852 and 1852-1861 clerical surveys, Anders Peter Carlson is listed as born 26 Dec 1818 in Marback Parish, Jonkoping County, and Anna Regina Andersdotter is listed as born 7 Sep 1822 in Asby Parish, and they are shown leaving for North America in 1852.When the birth/christening records were checked in Marback Parish, they confirmed that Anders Peter was born 26 Dec 1818 and he was christened on 27 Dec 1818, but his name is written as Peter Anders instead of Anders Peter. His parents were Carl Strom and Eva Joransdotter. In the case of the Asby Parish birth/christening record for Anna Regina, her birth was confirmed as 7 Sep 1822 and she was christened on 8 Sep 1822.Her parents were Anders Andersson and Brita Hansdotter. On September 18, 1852 Anna and Anders(Andrew) Carlson had their first child John Anderw Carlson (my great grandfather) in or near Princeton, Illinois USA.In August of 1854 this family had moved to in or near Burlington, Iowa probably in Union township as there 2nd son Henry Alexander Carlson was born there. There were 4 more children born (six in all) David W. Caroline who may have also gone by the name Alma or Emma, then Sophia and the last child was Amy M.This Carlson family had their name spelled Corrolson in the 1856 Iowa State Census Des - Moines County, Union Township.Prior to the 1880 Census This family moved to Nebraska, Fillmore County Bryant or Momence Township neqar the village of Shickley. All of Andrew and Anna's children moved with them to Nebraska exceptJohn the oldest child.John had married Augusta B. Burgeson in November of 1877.I have the marriage certificate.By the 1885 Nebraska State Census John and his family had also moved to Nebraska and settled near the village of Shickley. In 1885 Anna and Andrew are found living in Axtell, Nebraska. In about the year 1904 Andrew passed away in Nebraska. After Andrew Peter Carlson's death, Anna Regina Carlson moved away from Nebraska about the year of 1905 or 1906 with her son David W. and his wife - Emma (Freeberg) Carlson to Arizona. On April 07, 1918 Anna passed away in Phoenix, Maricopa County, Arizona and is buried in an unmarked grave in the Greenwood Cemetery in Phoenix.
According to Anna's death certificate her last name is noted as being Anderson however on several of her children's death certificates Anna's maiden name is listed as being Newberg.I have no idea where the Newberg name comes from. From a researcher he offered these suggestionsThis name is rare in Sweden. It is probably Nyberg ("ny" means "new" in English). My guess right now is that it is possible that Anna Regina's father took the surname Nyberg some time before Anna Regina left home -- either that, or the surname Newberg was mistakenly reported on the death certificates of some of Anna Carlson's children.
