Capt. "Bloody Bill" Anderson had a brother named James "Jim" Anderson that also rode with the Missouri Partisan Rangers. After the war Jim Anderson and Jesse James allegedly killed a young man named Ike Flannery, who had also ridden with the Partisan Rangers. Jesse James testified that they came upon the body of Ike after Federal troops had killed him. Ike Flannery's uncle was George Washington Shepherd, who was with Frank and Jesse James when the Russellville, KY, bank was robbed. George Washington Shepherd was caught and served time in the Louisville, KY, state prison. After he got out he must have had questions about how young Ike was killed. He allegedly hunted down Jim Anderson in Texas, and killed Jim either in a gun fight or cut his throat with a knife after getting Jim drunk. In either version it happened in Austin at the state capital or in front of a county courthouse.
Has anyone heard of this? I'm trying to track down any record of the incidents involving Ike's death and Jim Anderson's death.
