Re: Virginia DeMarce research on ClintonCoNY Andersons
It's good to hear from you again after all this time! I would definitely like a copy of her Anderson file.
I've been very busy and bogged down with things other than my genealogy. So I haven't really been working on my research these past few years, but I've still been collecting a few leads via these GenForum postings and e-mails from our other 'cousins'.
About once a year, I've been managing a day in Montreal looking up source records. I've gotten quite a few photocopies of Marney primary source documents and located many more (not yet photocopied). One document I have is 3-5 pages of a marriage contract for Louis Marney.
There is a news article today on the CNN website about the New York State Archives working to restore many of their revolutionary war documents. It mentions there are many documents there because about a third of the battles of the American Revolution were fought in New York state.
Col. Moses Hazen was ordered to select 100 men from Louis Marneys regiment to witness the hanging of Major John Andre. I wonder if there is a list of these witnesses available somewhere there in Albany?
It was good timing to hear from you right now. This past year I learned a great deal about HTML and using Dreamweaver to create webpages. I hope to soon put together a website dedicated to the ancestry and descendants of Louis Marney dit Richeleau to post these Marney related documents on line where they can be downloaded.
