Colbert and Robert Anderson of Edgefield County, SC
Loose paper documents of Edgefield County- John Anderson's estate ordered to be appraised by Colbert Anderson, William Farquhar, and James Ramsey on JULY 2, 1798 !!!! Subsequent Estate Sale purchasers included COLBERT Anderson, Thomas, James, and John Ross, Arthur Williams, William Anderson, Nathan Wright, Caleb Holloway, Frederick Ward, Jonathan Beesley, and Stephen Anderson. Altogether there are seven Anderson estates with loose papers in Edgefield County including that of Charity Anderson in 1783.
Additional inventory books exist, also, that have not been abtracted including one for Robert Anderson whose appraisers were approved in EDGEFIELD court on February 27, 1818, and the inventory recorded there on March 27, 1818. The unusual thing about Robert's estate was that the courts papers said he died testate (with a will) but appointed an administrator rather than an executor and no will was recorded in Edgefield. Yet, document found in Abbeville County address Colbert in the same package with those of a Robert, who died in 1816. Since I just started my Anderson family research, chat it up.... 'cause I'm confused... especially since Colbert has been reported to have died in 1785.
