Interested in Amos Anderson. There were several running around Abbeville Co. SC.
I am a Jay family researcher.Joseph Jay, Jr. migrated to Randolph Co. IL in 1814 about the same time as the Lively and Anderson families.Joseph Jay, Jr. died in Randolph Co. IL in 1826 and Amos Anderson was co-administer of the estate.Joseph Jay's wife Rebecca Spragens Berry Jay (she was married to a Berry first in SC) died in Perry Co. IL a few years later....again Amos Anderson was administrator of the estate.
Back to SC....in 1806 Joseph Jay SR. died.Thomas Lively and Amos Anderson SR. appraised the estate.Buyers at the estate sale included Amos Anderson SR and Amos Anderson JR.
I do not know if the Amos Anderson in IL (supposed son of Joseph Anderson) who is interacting with the Joseph Jay family is the same Amos Anderson in SC who is interacting with the Joseph Jay family!Lots of smoke here but too many Amos Andersons. There are also several Amos Andersons in Abbeville. One Amos Anderson died in Abbeville in 1808 (Estate Box 1, Packet 13) and had a son Amos Jr.
Can anyone help with these Abbeville families. Can it be proven that the Amos Anderson that migrated to IL was indeed the son of Joseph Anderson by probate or bible record?
Thanks,
Vince King
