It took me four months to find your post about Peter Anderson and Lucinda Ogg, but now that I have, I am very interested in exchanging with you.I have no confirmation of the following, and much of it may be very wrong, so please read through it and see if we can put the real story together. The confirmed facts are marked *.
It appears that Peter married Lucinda who bore him several children, then died. There may have been a second marriage, but unclear. He then married a Nancy Parker. Then Peter died, and Nancy turned his youngest dependent children - perhaps two young sons - over to the Anderson relatives and left without them.It is unclear if they were her children or the first wife's or even where all of that took place.
One of Peter's sons raised by relatives may have later been the father of my Charles B. Anderson who said on census that he was born in Indiana 1855.Charles' age varied wildly over subsequent censuses, so I take his birth date as inexact. No clear evidence has been found about his parent(s) or exactly where he grew up.He said variously on censuses that his parents were born in Ohio or Indiana.
Confirmed facts* only begin when, as a young man, Charles hired out as farm labor in Cass Township, Fountain County, Indiana with the Suitor (sp) family*.There he met their granddaughter, Anna Lucasetta Edwards, and married her ca. 1880*.They immediately left Indiana, and he wandered in many states and territories* for the next sixty years. He never went back to Indiana except for the briefest of visits.I think Anna Edwards's father had concerns about his daughter's husband, and those certainly got worse as the years went on, but that is another story.
Charles Anderson must have been an odd duck, but he was my great grandfather, and I have a picture of him from the late 1940s.I think he died shortly thereafter.Would be glad to share. It would be so interesting to see your reunion pictures.
Please help me connect the parts I know* with your facts.Advise if you conclude that we are not talking about the same people. If we are, I understand you prefer to use landmail to send pictures, so I shall make a copy of my photo and send it to you with my return address. If you will then share you reunion pics, perhaps we can discuss them further,
Thanks.Patricia Ross Parker
