My great-great grandmother was Margaret Apel. She married Jacob Bardon and they settled in Sheboygan Falls as homesteaders.I have not found a ship's list for Margaret Apel but I believe I have one for Jacob.According to other gen sites I have seen, some of the Bardon children were born in New York city, so that may be a clue to the New York Apels. I do know that Jacob Bardon was from Bavaria (not Irish as most Bardons seem to be) but I have no information on Margaret Apel's parentage or country of origin. My father said he believed the Apels may have come from Alsace-Lorraine. I do not know if Jacob and Margaret were married before immigrating. However, I did find a listing for 3 Apels in the Oshkosh, Wisconsin city directory from 1886. Bernhart is listed as a trunkmaker, Henry F is listed as "lab Paine L Co", and Miss Amanda Apel is listed as a tailoress. This would put them in proximity with my father's family who also lived in Oshkosh.Libbie Bardon, Margaret's daughter, married William Henry Boyd who had a grocery store in Oshkosh and my father's family lived there until at least 1919.
