I am very interested in genealogy and history, but unfortunately I don't even know my grandmother's full name. =P
I was hoping if I threw out enough vague details, someone would connect. At this point, I'm less interested in genealogy than I am at reconstructing an extended family. Most of the key figures seemed to have died before I was born, or too soon afterward for me to interview them about their relatives...
Here is what I know:
My maternal great grandmother was named Lena Loder. She was born December 12, 1893 somewhere in California, and died in March of 1980 in Spokane, Washington. She married a man named Apperson, and had a lot of kids (12, I think), the two of which I know about are named Anna (my great aunt) and Lois (my grandmother).
Anna married a man named Lou (Stevens?) and they had one son.Last I heard (~1990), they were still living in Spokane, WA, but I have not had any contact with them since I was eight or nine.Anna was a housewife and liked to paint.
Lois married and had a son (Stephen?), then divorced and married a lapidary named Ray Wilson. They had two children, a boy named Donald(?) and my mother, Sarah, who was born in Grant's Pass, OR in 1958.Lois was an elementary school teacher and settled in Spokane, WA, where she died ~1970.Ray Wilson died ~1982.
Even less factual Anecdotes:
I have a great aunt who settled in the San Francisco bay area, in Berkeley or the Oakland hills. My mother visited her when she was maybe 8-15 years old.Any one remember a story about cousin Sarah, Donald or Steven visiting from Washington ~1965-1975?
Apparently many of Lena Loder's children or siblings were musicians and artists... opera singers, musicians who played with Dave Brubeck, that sort of thing.Know any artistic Appersons in their 60s-80s?
One of Lena's sons had a heart condition... an oversized heart, or something. The story goes, one day, when he was around 12 years old, he jumped into a cold pool on a hot day, and the shock killed him.If you've heard that one before, you absolutely *must* contact me. =)
Sorry for all my incomplete dates, names, and anecdotal evidence.I know this isn't the usual material for the genealogy forums, but I really need to know something about my family. =)
