Hi Karen:My mother's maiden name is Anna Appignani, she had a great uncle named Sinegrande Appignani. We have been doing a lot of searching on the Ellis Island web site for a few years. Sinegrande is shown on the registry manifest as entering Ellis Island on Oct 6, 1920 at age 35.It said he was from Spoltore and going to Steubenville Ohio to see his nephew Mr. D'Onofrio (Querino), who lived at 601-603 6th St. in Steubenville. The registry form said he was married to Camilla, who was still in Teramo, Italy. If you look at the original manifest, the next line down has a girl named Adriana D'Onofrio, who was 23, who listed her Father as DOMENICO D'ONOFRIO from Spoltore. She was also going to Steubenville, Ohio to see her brother listed in the line above, D'Onofrio (Querino). So, Adriana was Sinegrande's Niece? So the only way her last name could be different is if they were children of Sinegrande's sister (first name unknown) who married Domenico D'Onofrio, (thus the name change from Appignani - possibly your "Bicetta" - could that possibly be "Concetta" -- which is listed many times in our family tree). Does this add to anything you have?
