My husband descends from Tandy Lane, 1788-1866, through Nancy Lane Bond Appleby, 1818-1909, and her first marriage to Amos (Amon) Bond and their daughter Elizabeth Jane (Jayne)Bond McKnight. Nancy married second to James Appleby, 1801-1869.
I live in Springfield, MO, so I have been fortunate to have access to primary records in this area.My questions may be "old hat" to some, but I have been researching and puzzling over this matter for quite some time - I notice that many put Tandy Lane's parents as Charles and Elizabeth Mallory Lane and grandfather as Jesse Lane.I do know that DAR records have Tandy in this family. However, are you familiar with the "Layne, Lain, Lane Genealogy" by Floyd Benjamin Layne, Bookman Press, 1962?In Mr. Layne's book, he puts Tandy Lane is the son of William Laine/Layne the wagonoor. All that I have researched regarding Tandy Lane, to date, has corresponded with Mr. Layne's findings. I have been in contact with several Polk County, MO Lane descendants and 'old timers' and several put Tandy in the Charles Lane family, but I have not found any proof of this - yet. Thanks for your time and consideration regarding my questions.
