Before 1867 he married Elena Haviland. They appear to have had five daughters.
I do not know where JGA was born nor where he died.In 1867, however, he and his wife turn up as sponsors at a religious service involving his sister in law and her husband (my great grandfather).(The purpose of the service is described in Spanish as 'se velaron' which I confess I do not sufficiently understand.)This service took place in Santiago, Chile. At this time they would appear to have been members of the US originating expat community in Chile, many of whom (or their children) would subsequently return to the US around the turn of the nineteenth/twentieth centuries.
Does anyone know more about JGA's ancestors?About his descendants? Both?
Thanks for reading this and for any information you can furnish. The quid pro quo, if you are interested, would involve information on the family of his wife.
