I'm searching for descendants of Robert Applegarth, born circa 1797 in Hull, Yorkshire, England.
Two of his children emigrated to Venango, PA in 1856. They were George Applegarth, who appears on the 1880 census with his wife Jennie and children, Eve, William and George (all born in PA)and his daughter Ellen, married to Robert Ramsdale, who appear on the 1880 census with their two youngest children, Lizzie and Charles. They also had four older children, born in the UK. In 1880, they were all living in Franklin, Venango, PA.
Robert had another son, Robert, born 1834, who was a well-known trades union leader in the 1860s. He had 3 sons, Sampson Day, Robert George and Albert Lincoln. Robert George and Albert Lincoln emigrated to NZ, probably in the 1880s. I have traced Albert Lincoln to Dunedin, where he married in 1893. He had a son, Robert, who served in WW1. Robert George also served in WW1, with the American Red Cross in Paris. I know he was living in Paris in 1924, when his father died. Sampson Day died in England in 1902 but his widow, Caroline, and two sons, Percie and Maurice, emigrated to Timaru. I have now traced their marriages and burials in Timaru, but would like to know if they had any children.
If anyone knows of any Applegarths in either of these locations, please contact me. Many thanks, Chris.
