I am looking for any info on two brothers, Frederick and Henry Appleton, who I think were born in Manchester around 1850. Frederick married Katherine Crosson, and they emigrated to Canada (date unknown), where they went first to Victoria, BC, then to a small town in the BC interior (Enderby), and then back to Victoria again. Henry never married, and was a military engineer. My grandmother, his niece, told me that he was involved in building the bridge on the Khyber Pass, and that he was a mountaineer, amateur photographer, and botanist.
I would like to know who Henry and Frederick's parents were, if anyone has any info. I believe they had two other siblings, but don't know names or dates, or even gender!
