Re: Orahood from same migration route
Dear Dale, Your research and information is impressive.I get chills down my back every time I learn something new about the Orahoods and now the Orrhuds, Arihoods, Arahoods.I grew up believing that my father's siblings were the only Orahoods in the world.
I never thought of myself as anything other than "American."Now I learn that I have a Scots start. I know so little history of Scotland. I appreciate your suggestions that Alexander Sr. left Scotland after the Jacobite War in 1745.I am interested in why people leave their countries, but despite college and Master's degree, my understanding of history is embarrassingly slim. Now I certainly have a reason to read up on Scotland.
Your information certainly will help me. I wish I had more time right now to do something with it.
Did you follow up on Harper M. in THE NATIONAL CYCLOPEDIA OF AMERICAN BIOGRAPHY/Because of whom he married, Mary Esther
Hurlbut, he was a prominent figure.I could mail you a copy of my photocopy if you need it and cannot locate THE NATIONAL CYCLOPEDIA.I think I had better read and comprehend just exactly what you sent me.I sure am pleased to have made contact with you.Actually it was quit by accident.Thank the gods for accidents!
In great appreciation, Judith O. Royal Arlington Heights
