Re: Eye problems in Arbuckles?
We have a couple lazy eyes but more prevelant is color blindness. It's herditary and although the boys are the ones that are color blind the gene is passed down by the daughter from her father to her son. In our case it would have to have been Nancy Arbuckle's father who was color blind. His daughter Nancy would have passed it down to her son, William Leathers. William's daughter Martha Leathers Danner had to pass it to her son Charles Danner. His daughter Ella Danner Hartwig passed it to two of her sons, Merle and Larry (my husband). Our daughter Ella has a son, Adam who is color blind and Merle has at least one grandson and I think a great grandson who have it. My husband has two nephews with lazy eye. One of them wore a patch to correct it and the other had surgery. One nephew belongs to my husband's brother Carl and the other one to a sister. There weren't any problems on his father's side of the family. His mother's brother's descendants don't seem to have any eye problems and I know most of them. She also had two sisters and I'm a little sketchy about their descendants. I know some of them wore thick glasses. I'm rather curious. Let me know if you find out more.
