It is with sadness in our hearts and a lifetime of beautiful memories that we announce the peaceful passing of our mom and grandma, Margaret May Argent (Hilliar). After a brief illness Margaret passed away on June 1, 2009 with family by her side. Margaret was born February 2, 1935 in Ridgedale. She grew up on the farm in the Ridgedale area. This is where she had started her schooling and then later moved to Melfort. When she had finished school, she was hired to work on the Argent homestead near Beatty, where she met her husband Roy. Roy and Margaret were wed on December 25, 1954. They later moved off the farm to make their home in Melfort. Mom started working part-time at the Journal and became a full-time employee in 1978. She was a very dedicated and hardworking employee until her retirement in 2004. When mom entered retirement she was able to enjoy many different activities like seniors group, bowling, cards, Legion bingo and shopping with her brother Jim. Mom was a big sports fan especially when it came to watching the Toronto Blue Jays and Toronto Maple Leafs. She also enjoyed spending her time watching her grandchildren, whether it was hockey, baseball, softball, volleyball, dance, music or drama, she enjoyed them all. She always enjoyed spending time with her family. Margaret will be deeply missed by her children and grandchildren: Lorne (Elaine), Lane (Victoria), Landon; Bev (Brian) Lealos, Kim (Robert), Adam; Pat (Walter) Toews, Ashley, Maryann; Maryann Argent (Al); Calven (Charlene), Morgan, Sheldon; Ron (Geraldine), Megan (Chris), Josh; her brothers: Jim (Betty); John (Barb); brother-in-law Herman Beacock; her Aunt Jessie Payne; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Margaret was predeceased by her husband Roy, parents Charlie and Lillian Hilliar, in-laws Albert and Mary Argent, sister Sylvia Beacock and brother Charlie Hilliar. The Funeral Service for Margaret was held from Fedusiak Funeral Chapel on Friday, June 5, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Paul Dubois officiating. The interment followed in the Mount Pleasant Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers were "All Who Knew and Loved Margaret" and the pallbearers were Lane, Landon, Josh and Sheldon Argent, Adam Lealos and Maryann Toews. The Memoral Register was attended to by Morgan Argent and Kim Lealos. Megan Argent and Ashley Toews served as ushers.The eulogy was delivered by Kevin Phillips. The organist was Judith Solsten. Friends so wishing, in lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
