Long - Arick marriage, pre 1830's, Eastern Coast

My ancestor was purported to be a " only son of an only son ". Fled to Texas with a wagon train after shooting a man in Kentucky. He was George Vernon Long, born 1828 in Maryland. George married and raised a family in Texas, had one boy out of five kids. He named that boy William ARICK Long.

I hope this is the first name for George's father and middle name for George's mother.

I'm looking for any history of Long & Arick marriages or associations.
