William ARRIS - England - c.1880 - 1941
I am currently researching the ARRIS family and am finding it difficult to progress, can anyone help ?
My wife's Great grandfather was William
ARRIS and the limited information that I have is as follows.
William married Mabel Madeline FILER (b.11/11/1883 in Bristol) on 30/5/1903 at Brentford, London. He gives his age as 23, occupation as a Carman and his father as
Richard ARRIS (decd) a musician.
William and Mabel had 4 children named Mabel Ellen (b.1904/d.1970), Alice (b.1905/d.1956), Mary (b.1908/d.1997)
and Margaret (b.1910/d.1911).
Mabel Madeline FILER died in 1915, aged 31.
William had a subsequent partner (they were unmarried) called Annie KEEN and they had a further 7 children named Bill, Flo, Ivy, Dick, George, John and Derek (all born c.1915 to 1935).
William ARRIS died in 1941 and was buried in Acton Cemetery. His age is given as 57 (?).
I have been unable to locate William ARRIS in the GRO Birth indexes having searched a wide spread of years given that, according to his marriage certificate, he could have been born in 1880; or his age at death, in 1884 ?
I have also not been able to locate his father Richard ARRIS in any of the GRO indexes.
Neither William nor Richard have been positively identified
in the Census returns for 1881, 1891 or 1901.
I have corresponded with several members of the family, but none are able to remember any specific details of William or his extended family.
If anybody is able to help, please get in touch.
Thank you
